The most beautiful marble fountain in the world- Trevi Fountain

Trevi Fountain, Italian Fontana di Trevi, fountain in Rome that is considered a late Baroque masterpiece and is arguably the best known of the city’s numerous fountains. Trevi Fountain is the most beautiful fountain in Rome; It is also the largest fountain in the Rome city. Measuring some 20 meters in width by 26 meters in height, the Trevi Fountain is a massive creation in travertine and carrara marble, the name of the fountain comes from the fact that it lies at the junction of three roads (tre vie).

It was designed by Nicola Salvi and completed by Giuseppe Pannini, it took 32 years to build Trevi Fountain, beginning in 1730 and ending in 1762.

According to legend, those who toss coins into its waters will return to Rome.

The Trevi Fountain is a large fountain, with a height of 26 meters and a width of 20 meters which is adorned with many statues. The sculptures in the Trevi Fountain depict an allegorical story entitled Taming of The Waters, or tame water. At the center of the fountain, described Neptune or Poseidon (god of the sea) were climbing the chariot-shaped shells. The train pulled by two-tailed sea monsters, each piloted by Triton (sea god subordinates, tailless dolphin). These two horses, one quiet and obedient while the other one has a restless nature and defected, describe the nature of the sea that often fluctuate, sometimes quiet but sometimes too volatile and less friendly.

On the left hand side of Neptune, there is a relief sculpture of Abundance (prosperity) pouring water from a jug, and on the right side there Salubrity (health) is holding a cup of water being drunk by a snake. This story illustrates the story of the construction of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct, with one sculpture depicts the builders, Agrippa. As background of the Trevi Fountain is the Palazzo (palace) Poly with a design in harmony with the Trevi Fountain.

Another attraction of the Trevi Fountain is a tradition and myth throw coins into the water pond. How to throw a coin is with his back to the Trevi Fountain (back facing the pool) and threw it over the top of the shoulder. The myth says that we managed to throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain pond means we will be back again to this historic city … Rome, Italy.

Throwing coins in Trevi Fountain is symbolic. One coin ensures a return trip to Rome; two coins are for those seeking love; three coins symbolize wedding bells.

Each day approximately $4000USD is thrown into the Trevi Fountain in the form of coins. The money is used for charitable causes.

An interesting statistic is that approximately a million Euros worth of coins are taken from the fountain each year. Since 2007 this money has been used to support good causes.

For us, Trevi Fountain is the most beautiful fountain in the world. Whether under daylight or warmly lit up at night, the fountain is never lonely.
